RICHLAND, Mich. — Gull Lake Middle School one of 176 middle schools across the United States to be recognized as a Project Lead the Way Distinguished School. Project Lead the Way representatives said in a written statement Tuesday, May 5, 2020, that the school was recognized because of the opportunities it provided to students in the science, technology, engineering and math fields through the organization's software, Project Lead The Way Gateway. The software is similar to projects assigned by teachers in the classroom setting. “It is a great honor to recognize Gull Lake Middle School for their commitment to providing students with an excellent educational experience,” Vince Bertram, president and CEO of Project Lead the Way, said. “They should be very proud of their work to ensure students have the knowledge and skills to be career ready and successful on any career path they choose.” To be eligible for the designation, Gull Lake Middle School had to:

CANCELLED EVENTS & GRANT DEADLINE UPDATE May 1, 2020 In response to the COVID-19 outbreak and to care for the well-being of our volunteers, students, staff, and community, the GLCS Foundation announces the following: Scholarships: The Scholarship Reception for high school scholarships has been cancelled. Scholarship recipients will be contacted mid-May via email about awarded scholarships and celebrated via social media. Ryan Scholarship: The deadline to apply for the James R. Ryan Family Foundation Middle School Scholarship has been extended to June 1, 2020 at 3:00 pm. Interviews for finalists will be arranged when safety restrictions allow. Click here for more details. Distinguished Academic Scholars: The Distinguished Academic Scholars (DAS) celebration will not be held this spring. A list of scholars and their selected, honored educators will be available on the Foundation’s website in May and celebrated on social media. Commemorative booklets will be mailed to each scholar by mid-June. Grants: The final grant cycle of the 2019-2020 school year has been cancelled. The 2020-2021 grant cycles will continue as scheduled. The deadline dates can be found on the Grants Page; click on Grant Procedures. The first deadline is September 1, 2020.
