The Frys recently donated $500 for COVID-19 Relief, which was matched 5x by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, where Julie is a retiree. This donation spurred the GLCS Foundation to create a special fund to provide educators with grants for items, such as online teaching resources and supplies, necessitated by this unpredictable school year. Awards to date have totaled over $5,000 to 30 teachers.
When asked about their incredible support of the Foundation, Julie said, "We have had three generations go through the Gull Lake Community schools. Both our grandparents moved to the Gull Lake area in the mid 40s. We raised our two daughters here and enjoyed being a part of their sports careers with the school. So it was important to us to continue to support our great school system in any way we can." Thank you Julie and Rusty! We couldn’t do it without you! November 2020 COVID-19 Relief Grants This unpredictable school year required a different approach. After consulting with educators, the Foundation quickly adjusted its process to be more flexible and help overcome challenges to providing quality online educational content and delivery. Already this year, over $5,000 to 30 teachers has been awarded for that purpose. In return, these lovely thank you notes were received from the Ryan Intermediate staff.
