GLCSF Readies 2009-2010 Fundraising Campaign
The Gull Lake Community Schools Foundation (GLCSF) soon will kick off its 2009-2010 fundraising campaign with the theme “Building a Sound Foundation.”
While we are pleased with our success in the last school year, we continue to work on ‘Building a Sound Foundation,’” said Courtenay VanderMolen, GLCSF chair. “Last year many generous donors made a tremendous impact on the quality of education at Gull Lake. Especially in this difficult economy, our students and our teachers will continue to need financial support.”
The Foundation’s 2008-2009 annual report will be available in early October. The report celebrates the achievements of the Foundation last year. Students of all ages and teachers in every building in the district benefited from the generosity of supporters.
Gifts from the community allowed students to attend leadership conferences, participate in a dialogue club, attend overnight camp, and enhance learning through field trips and guest speakers. The Foundation was able to continue character-building training for middle schoolers and further expand depression/suicide prevention training in the district. Teachers were able to attend workshops, seminars and conferences. In addition, grants allowed purchases of many classroom supplies and academic needs, books, calculators, DVDs, CDs, band uniforms, science supplies, a piano keyboard and cardiovascular equipment.
“Enriching the education of our students and providing learning opportunities for teachers is an ongoing process,” VanderMolen said. “We hope our supporters help that process continue and flourish by donating to the Foundation this year.”
Tax-deductible contributions can be mailed to the Gull Lake Community Schools Foundation, 11775 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083.
